Largemouth Rocks For Heroes in Charlotte

Largemouth Rocks For Heroes in Charlotte

For more than 240 years, brave Americans have served and sacrificed to maintain our country’s independence. For those veterans who are severely wounded as a result of their service, our client The Independence Fund is committed to helping them regain their independence. We had the honor of supporting the non-profit organization’s inaugural Rock For Heroes benefit concert through media relations, as seen on Good Day Charlotte, and social activation–here’s a peek at our experience onsite:

SITE VISIT: Our time in Charlotte started with a venue walkthrough at Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre the day prior to the event. The Independence Fund team, venue executives, Live Nation representatives and the Largemouth team walked the perimeter of the venue, comparing against the run-of-show we developed to ensure the event would run smoothly. The team ironed out final details for everything from the bands’ dressing rooms, security and media access, down to merchandise and beverage set-up.

PRE-SHOW PREP: Time to gear up for the benefit rock concert! We started the morning with media drops to local Charlotte print, broadcast and radio stations. We then continued pitching media to cover the concert and coordinating credentials as reporters arrived to the venue. We conducted another walk-through with the professional photographer and videographer to ensure he was comfortable with our shot list and run of show. As the gates opened, patrons flowed in and the finishing touches were being made, emcees Woody and Wilcox from 1065 The END took the stage – officially kicking off the show with the national anthem.

SHOW TIME: We credentialed attending media and escorted them to the pit during the first three songs of each band’s set. Otherwise opened the show, followed by Adelitas Way and Three Days Grace was the headliner. Throughout our time in the pit and the rest of the concert, we posted photos and videos to The Independence Fund’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter channels, capturing different aspects of the event from the three bands, Woody and Wilcox, fans in the crowd, as well as a special visit from Sir Purr – the Carolina Panthers official team mascot and the Top Cats – the Carolina Panthers official dance team. We also frequently posted less formal video and photos to The Independence Fund’s Instagram Stories channel to showcase all the live, in-between moments for supporters who could not make it to the concert.

The concert reviews came in as an overwhelming success, as seen on Backstage Axxess and Mosh Pit Report. All in all, the hard work from every person that had a hand in the event is directly connected to the positive impact The Independence Fund is making in our nation’s wounded veterans’ lives.
