Understanding the growing importance of “social selling,” Ascom tapped Largemouth PR to develop a training guide on social media best practices and present it to Ascom sales leaders during their annual sales meeting. Attendees walked away with a better understanding of the social media landscape for their industry (healthcare IT) and strategies to jump-start or improve their social networking skills.
Coaching Ascom sales leaders on “social selling”
Establishing a presence on social media is a crucial tool for today’s sales leaders
Challenge
Ideas
During the pandemic, opportunities for in-person networking were few and far between. Like many companies, Ascom shifted many of their sales efforts online. As a strategic communications partner, Largemouth provided comprehensive training on how the sales team could use social media as a long-term tool to strengthen relationships, build rapport and establish credibility within their networks.
Ahead of the presentation, Largemouth combined its social media experience with research on the latest social selling trends to better understand the sales journey of Ascom customers and how they engaged on social media. Armed with this data, Largemouth built a compelling case for sales leaders to incorporate social media engagement into their arsenal of sales tools.
The presentation was highly interactive to ensure participation, with activities including sharing company social media posts and encouraging participants to suggest tweaks that would improve each post’s visual impact, authenticity and credibility.
In addition to reinforcing the benefits of “social selling,” Largemouth provided comprehensive training on an employee advocacy platform that enables employees to easily re-share company posts on their personal social media accounts. A contest was launched to reward power users, adding a fun element and encouraging new users to start using the platform more frequently.
To ensure that the provided information was practical and actionable, Largemouth also developed a one-pager takeaway with social media best practices and specific actions to take over the next three, six and 12 months.
Impact
A post-event survey confirmed that the sales team found the training extremely informative and applicable to their jobs. More than 90% of attendees found Largemouth’s presentation useful to their sales efforts. Additionally, Ascom saw an immediate uptick in participation among employees using their employee advocacy platform.
