It’s a Snap Party!
This week, Snapchat rolled out a new group chat feature within the app—allowing up to 16 people to send and receive messages in a group setting. For those of us who live for a good group convo among friends, this is pretty exciting news.
But, will other features be affected?
With more than 100 million daily users, it’s safe to assume this new group feature will be adopted. TechCrunch has already noted that those holding group messages elsewhere—a la Kik, Facebook Messenger or iMessage—will soon migrate conversations to Snapchat, since it’s already their “go-to app.” And for those who don’t use Snapchat that frequently, their activity will likely increase once they begin to be included in group chats.
Also, as we know, Snapchat has invested a lot into growing its business, allowing media companies to engage with users and generating revenue from advertisers. With that being said, the more often users check the app for group message updates, they’ll likely check other features, such as Stories and the Discover page. This, in turn, presents even more reason for brands to be on the app, actively engaging with the millions of people it attracts on a daily basis.
